Construction

The 2012 budget will deliver a brighter future for Queenslanders.

This is the most important budget in a generation.

The construction industry is the backbone of the Queensland economy.

Ever increasing costs, onerous red tape, regulatory burdens and a failed targeted scheme that failed to address the issues after the global financial crisis have left the sector in the doldrums.

Our election on the 24th of March changed all that.

What we've now done is remove $7000 off the cost of buying a family home.

We’re making it easier for people to enter the property market by cutting red tape and reducing the cost of living for families by freezing car registration, by freezing electricity prices and by working to lower the cost of water bills.

We’re working hard to get people back out there buying their own home again.

This budget includes targeted changes to the first home owners’ scheme.

The grant will now be available for people buying a newly constructed home or a property off the plan.

We're increasing the grant and removing the program's expiry date so it's around for the long term.

The best thing government can do to meet the needs of a growing population is to let the property industry get on with the job of providing affordable housing that people want.

This is the most important budget in a generation.

Under the Newman LNP government Queensland's future is secure.
