Investing in our health
- $105.1 million to continue the new $1.283 billion Queensland Children’s Hospital
- $29.5 million for the $52 million expansion of the Princess Alexandra Hospital’s emergency department to deliver an additional 30 beds
- $27 million ($81.1 million over three years) for faster emergency care at Logan, Redland and QEII hospitals
- A newborn drop-in clinic at Redcliffe and Deception Bay
Better and safer roads and transport
- More than $170 million toward the Northern Busway, which will completed in 2012
- $142.3 million to start work on the $322.3 million roundabout on Airport Drive
- $138.24 million toward the Buranda to Coorparoo section of the Eastern Busway and $37.8 million for the Princess Alexandra Hospital to Buranda section
- $125 million to continue work on the new $315 million Houghton Highway bridge between Brighton and Redcliffe
- $125 million toward the Darra to Springfield rail line and $57 million toward the construction of a third rail track between Corinda and Darra
- $119.7 million to continue work on the $414.6 million duplication of the Centenary Highway between Springfield and Darra, in conjunction with the Darra to Springfield rail extension, due for completion in 2011‑12
- $93.5 million in joint Queensland-Australian Government funding to begin work on stage one of the Pacific Motorway Upgrade between Springwood South and Daisy Hill, at a total cost of $421.6 million
Education and early childhood development
- $155.3 million to improve State schools at Bayside, Bremer, Bundamba, Durack, Glenala, Silkstone, Wynnum and Wynnum North. This is part of a significant investment in the region under the State Schools of Tomorrow initiative
- $22.7 million to continue the $62.1 million upgrade of the SkillsTech Australia trade campus at Acacia Ridge
- Funding for new kindergartens at Stretton, Everton Hills, Yeerongpilly, Beachmere, Forest Lake, Deception Bay, Crestmead, Rochedale South and an extended kindergarten at Carina
Improving emergency services
- $32.4 million to complete the new $110.5 million courthouse, police station and watchhouse at Ipswich
- $3.68 million to complete the new $4.19 million police station at Springfield, $1.96 million to complete the new $6.47 million police station at Carseldine, $2.24 million to complete the $2.8 million refurbishment of the heritage-listed Fortitude Valley Police Station and $2.44 million to progress a $2.5 million replacement police station for Camp Hill/Carina
- $2.3 million to complete the $2.8 million Redland Bay Fire Station
- $2.2 million for an ambulance station at Springfield
- $1.8 million for the new $2 million ambulance station at Ashgrove/The Gap
Protecting our environment and facilities for communities
- $69.47 million towards the $130 million expansion of the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre
- $22.5 million for the South East Queensland Cycle Network
- $8.4 million to complete construction of the $63.3 million Kurilpa Bridge in Brisbane’s CBD
- $6.8 million for the $8.8 million redevelopment of the old Kangaroo Point TAFE site, which will provide almost 10,000 square metres of public parkland
