Investing in our health
- $39.4 million for the $332.8 million Townsville Hospital expansion to provide additional beds, operating theatres and expanded support services
- $3.8 million to complete the $41.4 million Ingham Hospital redevelopment
- $3 million to expand the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Townsville Hospital (at a total cost of $34 million over three years)
- $1.92 million in funding for the new $3.46 million Palm Island emergency facility
Better and safer roads
- $47.3 million in joint Queensland-Australian Government funding to continue construction of the $190 million Townsville Port Access Road
- $11 million to complete a new two-lane road on Abbott Street between Oonoonba Road and River Boulevard, Fairfield Waters
- Widening the Kennedy Highway between Big Dinner Creek and Mount Garnet
- $10.7 million in joint Queensland-Australian Government funding to continue the $43.8 million upgrade of the Burdekin River Bridge on the Bruce Highway between Bowen and Ayr
- $10.5 million to continue widening the Gregory Developmental Road, south of Bluff Downs Road
- $9.6 million in joint Queensland-Australian Government funding to duplicate the Douglas Arterial section of the Townsville Ring Road
Education and early childhood development
- $22 million to complete a $35.4 million specialist trade campus in Townsville
- $2 million to continue the $17 million stage two redevelopment of the Barrier Reef Institute of TAFE
- As part of the first tranche of the Government's commitment to 240 new or expanded kindergartens by 2014, funding for a new kindergarten at Oonoonba
Protecting our environment and building communities
- Funding for the $18.9 million Flinders Mall upgrade
- $10 million for Jezzine Barracks
- Continuing work on the $1.5 million redevelopment of the Kokoda Memorial Pool
